Kiswe Platform Trusted to Distribute Exclusive Interview of Top English Soccer Players Discussing Sexual Abuse Claims in UK and US
NEW YORK, NY. – Dec. 13, 2016 – Beyond the Pitch, a well-known radio program featuring top soccer players from around the globe, has selected Kiswe mobile to distribute an exclusive interview with former soccer professionals Andy Woodward and Steve Walters in which they allege for the first time that the recent sexual abuse claims in the U.K. may have also occurred on American soil.
Airing on Kiswe this Wednesday, Dec. 14th, at 8pm EST, Beyond the Pitch hosts, Phil Brown and Ian Joy interview Woodward, a professional soccer player within the English Football League who played for Crewe Alexandra, Bury, Sheffield United, Scunthorpe United and Halifax Town. Woodward was the first soccer professional to go public with his claims of sexual abuse by soccer coach, scout and convicted paedophile Barry Bennell published by The Guardian on Nov. 16. Joining Woodward is Steve Walters, another former Crewe Alexandra player who also played in the Football Conference for Northwich Victoria, Morecambe and Stevenage Borough. Walters said that reading Woodward’s account had persuaded him to reveal that he had also been abused by Bennell.
During this exclusive interview, Andy and Steve recognized that while the story about systemic child abuse in U.K. soccer is well covered and triggering demands for change in the U.K., the news has not reached the borders of the United States where soccer has grown to be one of the largest youth participatory sports in the country. Further, based on their observations while attending American youth soccer camps, they believe that abuse has occurred on American soil and seek to see regulatory loopholes closed for the safety of the children.
“We are distributing this interview on Kiswe because Kiswe is an interactive mobile-centric platform where viewers can chat amongst each other as well as easily access support resources. Andy and Steve are going public with their abuse in order to start a dialogue here in America and to encourage others to find answers and share their stories. This is the perfect platform for them to do this,” said Steve Casciani, the producer of Beyond the Pitch.
“Kiswe Mobile provides an interactive video platform where our content partners can truly engage with their community of viewers. We have attracted many content producers who are looking for innovative ways to have a real-time interactive dialogue. We are pleased to provide a new media platform that supports interactive storytelling, allowing courageous people such as Andy and Steve to share their story in order to help others,” says Kiswe CEO, Wim Sweldens.
